Dear TRUE members:
This is TRUE’s official notification to members that we are holding a special election to fill two seats with unexpired terms on the TRUE Executive Board: One Director-at-Large representing regular education teachers of Pre-K to Grade 6 and the Vice President.
TRUE members wishing to nominate themselves and/or other TRUE members for these positions must file a Declaration of Candidacy form together with a signed campaigning rules acknowledgment document (click here to view the Declaration of Candidacy and campaigning rules acknowledgment document.) These documents are due to be received by 4:30 pm on January 22, 2016 at the TRUE office (3318 Howard Street, Suite 10, McClellan, CA 95652). These forms can be downloaded directly from the TRUE website: www.trueassociation.org and will also be available at the TRUE office (stop by or send request by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org).
Many TRUE members have told us that they want to receive more information about the candidates before they vote, so for this election we are including a couple of changes:
- Along with their Declaration of Candidacy, candidates may now submit a short bio with bulleted information (for example: years of experience in education, site(s), current and past work assignments, union involvement, etc.), in addition to the usual Candidate Statement, which now has a limit of 100 words max (before it was 50 words max).
- Candidates may now also submit a current color photograph of themselves to be published with their candidate statement.
Please read the below Announcement of Special Election for more details, including the complete election timeline. Also attached you can find a description of responsibilities of the TRUE Executive Board and specifically, of the 2 positions open for election (click here for VP Duties and click here for Director Duties).
