Dear TRUE Members,
As I sit here trying to get to my TRUE to do list, I am having a difficult time focusing. I know all of you went back to your sites to begin to focus on your school, your classrooms and getting ready for the students who will arrive Tuesday morning. I am so glad you got to go back to do that and focus on something positive.
My lack of focus comes from the overwhelming disappointment I have in the message Superintendent Martinez sent to us this morning, with his actions and words. I am almost left speechless.
Thank you for wearing your TRUE T-shirt or black today. Thank you in advance for moving away from the environment of this morning to go to focus on your students and the job you work so hard at each day. This will be the best year out of the last 4 because I know you will focus on what is needed for the students in your care regardless of the atmosphere in our district right now and you will all support each other in doing that. Twin Rivers’ Educators are one of the hardest working group of people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. That is what you should have heard this morning.
I have to quote Michelle Rivas from this morning in saying that we are a family and we will disagree but we need to stay respectful and stay focused on the reason we are all together, the students. There were times the students were not used as a reminder for us this morning, they were used for something else.
I want to give a shout out to Twin Rivers Trustees Michelle Rivas and Michael Baker for walking out of the rally at the beginning of the motivational speaker as they disagreed with the amount of money the district spent on this.
This could be one of the most challenging years we have had in Twin Rivers and I hope you continue to stand together so we meet the needs of our students and work towards fair negotiations.
Have a wonderful first day of school and do what you do best, focus on those kiddos!
We are one and we will only get stronger together!
Look out for new communications from TRUE’s Crisis Organizing Team on our next steps in support for fair negotiations.
Looks like the district is doing a survey on the rally. Please check your district email and complete it. They need to hear our voice on this as I have shared on numerous occasions what so many of us think about the rally and they do not listen.
