Dear TRUE Members,
You will soon have two surveys coming your way from TRUE. Yes, it seems to be the season of surveys right now! I understand they can get annoying, but for TRUE it is very important that you share your voice to guide us in the direction that will best support our members.
One survey will be the “TRUE Principal/Site Administrator/D.O. Supervisor Survey” that we have done every year, for the past few years, and the other one will be a “Work to Rule, Prepare for Strike” survey. Please look for those in the following days, and check your spam folder if you don’t see them (sometimes survey e-mails turn up in the Spam folders).
Intent to Return E-Mail from the District
Today the district sent out an email with a short survey asking about your intent to return to the district next year. The district cannot hold you to your contract until after June 30, 2017 per Ed Code. Beginning July 1, 2017, if you chose to leave TR, the district can follow the Ed Code stated in the email. Since many teachers have been leaving TR the past few years, to my knowledge the district has yet to contact the Commission on Teacher Credentialing office, to put a hold on a credential. The district has held teachers to their position until a suitable replacement can be found. The amount of time a teacher has had to remain in their position, before released, has varied depending upon what position the teacher is in.
There is no reason not to fill this form/survey out. Allowing the district to have this information now will benefit our students and us, for the district will be able to staff their schools and departments ahead of the game, so we don’t end up with subs filling classrooms at the beginning of the school year.
The district and TRUE will meet for a third time on February 10th with the state appointed mediator. CTA’s NOOD (Negotiations and Organizing Department) staff person will be in attendance supporting the TRUE negotiators, and for the district, a consultant from School Services of California will be in attendance as per the mediator’s request. Wear your TRUE t-shirt or black on February 10th!

The TRUE News Needs an Editor!
