Dear TRUE Members,
If you have an IEP to attend during Work to Rule:
    • Step 1 – ask your RSP teacher or the students case manager  (if it is not the RSP teacher) if they can reschedule the IEP during the school day
    • Step 2 – if they cannot reschedule the IEP, then ask the RSP teacher or case manger to send home a general education teacher excusal form that the parent will have to agree to so you can turn in written report in place of your attendance at this IEP, if there is not enough time to get an excusal form to the parent and get it back prior to the IEP, you go to the IEP
    • Step 3 – if the parent doesn’t agree with the excusal form then you go to the IEP
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SUBMIT A WRITTEN REPORT TO AN IEP AND BE EXCUSED BY THE STUDENT’S FAMILY.  THIS IS PART OF ED CODE. THE DISTRICT CAN NOT DISCIPLINE YOU IF THIS PROCESS IS FOLLOWED.
If you have an SST to attend during Work to Rule:
    • Step 1 – ask for it to be rescheduled during the school day or in the 20 minutes before school begins
    • Step 2 – if it cannot be rescheduled, submit a written report to be given to the parent/family
    • Step 3 – if you are directed to go to the SST by your administrator, you go and let TRUE know.
Your administrators will continue to push on you because they are being pushed on.
Please continue to reach out to TRUE if you have further questions.
We are stronger together,
Kristin Finney – TRUE President
