What is the difference between a Member and a Non-Member?
Welcome to Twin Rivers! TRUE, Twin Rivers United Educators, is your Certificated Teachers Union with Twin Rivers. We are the exclusive bargaining representative of all non-supervisory certificated employees in the Twin Rivers Unified School District (TRUSD). We are glad that you are considering membership in your professional organization, TRUE/CTA/NEA. Your membership is the beginning of your journey supporting students, their schools, and your professional interests. Membership is easy. You can join by going to join.cta.org or returning a signed Membership Form to TRUE via email, mail, fax (916)-648-9753, or you can make an appointment to drop the form off in person and pick up a new member bag and your free TRUE T-Shirt at our office.
TRUE negotiates with TRUSD the Collective Bargaining Agreement (Contract), which covers certificated staff employment conditions, such as your Salary, Work Day/Work Year, Employee Health Benefits, Sick Leave, Class Size, Evaluation, Member Safety, Grievances, and so much more.
TRUE is a local chapter of California Teachers Association (CTA), which, in turn, is a state affiliate of the National Educators Association (NEA). Without the vast support we get from CTA, TRUE would not be able to exist on its own and protect its members.
Members are entitled to vote and hold office for local association roles; are covered under the $1,000,000 Educators Employment Liability coverage; have access to legal representation and are eligible for CTA-sponsored insurance programs and many more valuable membership benefits. Members also receive exclusive discounts on CTA and NEA Member Benefits Programs, such as travel, restaurant, theme parks, and purchasing discounts. TRUE also offers our Scholarships to our Members, Members Children, and TR High School Seniors, as well as our Catastrophic Leave Bank Program. CTA is partnered with The Standard (standard.com), which offers you great rates and better coverage for Disability & Life insurance. CTA is also partnered with California Casualty (calcas.com), which offers auto & home insurance to TRUE/CTA members at a lower rate. California Casualty covers your vehicle during work hours, without any further expense to you.
Non-Members — If you choose to be a Non-Member, by not completing your membership at join.cta.org or returning a Membership Form to TRUE, you will ONLY receive limited representation, only on matters pertaining to the collectively bargained agreement.
